Elements, Plantation Gothic Elements and themes identified for the
stories and novels.
Note: The links that say Chapter 1-11 and Prologue belong to the story Goat Castle By Karen L. Cox. I put 7 sources required because I want the paper to be thoroughly written with the provided sources linking back to the main examination of A Confederacy of Dunces.

Expectations
Essay should be typed in a Word document, double spaced, 10-12pt. font; 1” margins; numbered pages
Essay should be approximately 5-6 page(s) in length (please, no more than 6 pages)
You should quote from the novel and any of the other
stories or course materials as support for any assertions or ideas you
present.
Be sure to include an in text parenthetical citation in
MLA style for any quotes or direct paraphrases you include in your
Response. All in text citations go at the end of the sentence, no matter
where in the sentence the quote appears. Ex. Sister asserts that she
has always “stood up for Uncle Rondo,” but after the firecracker
incident she gives up on him (Welty 2).
A “Works Cited” or “Bibliography” is required for the novel and for any other materials you use. You may also draw information for your essay from secondary sources such as critical and scholarly essays from academic journals and books or historic documents or texts.
Please use MLA style for any and all citations in your “Works Cited” or “Bibliography”.

Novel and book titles should be in italics. Ex. A Confederacy of Dunces, Haunted South. Story and essay/article titles should be in quotes. Ex. “Desiree’s Baby”, “The Uneasy Afterlife of A Confederacy of Dunces”.

due to the fact or due to (instead use “because”)
literally (use it only if you mean literally).

Do not use contemporary slang, clichés and/or idioms in
academic writing (Example: “Dockery’s wealth was wiped out from
overspending”, “Janie and Teacake hooked up”, “at
the tip of my tongue”, “Only time will tell”, “A waste of time”, “Don’t
get your knickers in a twist”, Ignatius P. Reilly is “really out
there”).
