TSDs are valued at 100 points. Review the syllabus for guidelines, the TSD rubric explains the criteria used for grading your submissions.
Some find it easier to work in Microsoft Word or another word processor and check for errors, the final work can then be cut and pasted into the TSD. This also allows you to save your work in case the submission does not post properly due to technical issues.
Follow directions within each TSD carefully and for all discussion forums, follow Netiquette rules.
Initial Post:
Post your initial post using about ten sentences (no more than fifteen) by Wednesday of this module before 11:59 p.m. Refer to our course resources.
For your initial post, write a concise “mission statement” of about ten sentences for a Catholic healthcare institution/facility. Explain how your healthcare institution strives to provide the best care as you briefly refer to two or three of the course resources.
This is not a research assignment, where you would find and rely upon outside material. Find materials from our course to reference and explain what kind of care your healthcare institution provides.
Response:
Read all initial posts and respond to a classmate who has not yet received a response as of your reading. Respond using about five sentences (fewer than ten) between Thursday at 12:00 a.m. and Sunday at 11:59 p.m. of this module. Be sure to “Reply” to your peer’s initial post.
Engage your partner’s initial post/mission statement. You may support the original post, or challenge it appropriately

In our Catholic healthcare facility, we strive to provide the best care possible while maintaining the dignity of the human being. Our care focuses on healing the individual while being moral and ethical. We strive for “optimal functioning of the human person to meet physiological, psychological, social, and spiritual needs in an integrated manner” (O’Rourke & Boyle, 1999, 8). It is not just about treating the patient’s illness but caring for all their needs. We are proud of our healthcare professionals as they advocate for all patients and make decisions that follow the needs and wants of their patients. We place value on supporting our patients throughout any course of their lives, whether that be a newborn child or an older adult.
Our main purpose is to provide healthcare to everyone. No matter the patient’s socioeconomic status, religion, culture, or disability, they will always have the same right to healthcare. We will provide more to these oppressed groups as we are concerned with both “promoting equity of care—to assure that the right of each person to basic health care is respected—and with promoting the good health of all in the community” (O’Rourke & Boyle, n.d., 85). The poor and vulnerable are welcomed into our institution so that they can be given the care and resources needed for their basic rights as human beings.

Mission Statement: Our mission is to serve each human being as a whole person to ensure the best health care is given to persevere dignity for each life.
Our Catholic hospital mission statement has been constructed based on Catholic Social Teaching of the sanctity of human life and the dignity of the person. Everyone born in this world is entitled to human rights without any discrimination of nationality, sex, national or ethnic origin, color, religion, language, or any other status. According to the CST “They believe that the human life must be valued infinitely about material possessions. Believing all people are made in the image of likeness of God, Catholic doctrine teaches to treat all human beings with dignity” (Catholic Social Teaching,2012). The healthcare our hospital pledges to give is the healing of the whole person. The aspects of this care involve The “Biopsychoscoical-Spiritual” model which allows the person’s mind, body, and soul to be accounted for. Sulmasy (2006) remarks that”To heal means to restore the whole person to the state of the right relationship” (p. 168). Providing holistic care has major importance due to each aspect of the human being to be taken care of which can encourage a person to take responsibility for the well-being as well and not only in the hands of the healthcare providers. In support of our mission statement to provide the best health care persevere dignity for each life allows the sacredness of each life to be valued.
