Part One: Observation
Select an observation method from this course to record an observation of a child (birth to age 8) and observe the child for a minimum of 10 minutes.
If you do not have access to observe a child, please record your observation based on Jamie’s segment of this video beginning at 00:45:15 and ending at 00:55:40.
Identify the child’s age (birth to age 8).
Provide detailed and objective observation notes using your selected method from this course
Explain the setting including the program type, observed demographics, and child to teacher ratio.
Maintain confidentiality by changing names and identifying information.
Part Two: KWLAQ Chart
Based on your observation of the child, create a K-W-L-A-Q chart describes in detail:
What you know about the child.
What you want to know about the child.
What you learned about the child as a result of the observation.
What is at least one new action you would take to support the child’s development and details for how that action is developmentally appropriate. Incorporate at least one credible resource into your explanation.
What are at least three questions you still have after completing your observation and details for how those questions will support positive outcomes for your child. Include how you plan to gather information to answer the questions.
Submission Requirements
Submit observational notes, KWLAQ chart, and Reference page as a Word document.
Provides at least one credible source in APA reference page.
Uses professional language with correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
