On the third floor of MWCC’s main building, the women’s bathroom has the following: 2 stalls, 2 sinks, 1 soap dispenser, 1 hand dryer, 1 large mirror, 1 feminine product dispenser. The men’s bathroom has the following: 2 stalls, 3 urinals, 4 sinks, 1 soap dispenser, 1 hand dryer, 4 mirrors (over sinks). The square footage and shape of each bathroom is identical. [Handicapped students use the faculty bathroom, which is handicapped accessible – please don’t include them in this discussion.]
You have the task of making the student bathrooms on the third floor “equal” in some way(s) more than just the square footage. You will also have to decide what kind of equality you are trying to achieve. To add some current insight into this issue, I have the link to a recent article about “potty parity” – toilet equality – below. DO read this, but when you answer, don’t just copy the ideas in the articles – come up with your own equal and best bathroom plan.
