I found the StrengthsFinder assessment to be pretty accurate when describing my strengths. My top five signature themes of talent in order are Achiever, Maximizer, Includer, Strategic, and Woo. The Achiever theme is my number one talent and is characterized by a strong work ethic and a sense of purpose. The Maximizer theme is my number two talent and is characterized by building upon natural abilities and talents to create strengths. Includer is my third signature theme and is characterized by including all individuals regardless of their differences. My fourth signature theme is Strategic and is characterized by inventing original and innovative techniques for dealing with expected and unexpected challenges. And finally, Woo is my fifth signature theme, characterized by meeting new people and winning them over, with the goal of wanting others to feel the same fondness for you that you feel toward them (Rath, 2007).
Based on the results of my StrengthsFinder assessment, I would like to strengthen two core values, two strengths, and two characteristics. Core values are personal ethics that guide you when making decisions, building relationships, and solving problems (Keiling, 2022). Because of my sensitive nature, I easily practice empathy toward my patients’ problems. Empathy is the ability to understand and share a person’s feelings without passing judgment (Waters, 2022). However, I need to be able to create better boundaries to prevent myself from taking their burdens home with me. In other words, I need to learn how to leave work at work when I go home. I also need to work on the core value of perseverance. It can be so easy to give up when things do not go exactly as planned, but I can pull from my Strategic strength to create alternate ways to proceed. Two strengths that I would like to build on are Positivity and Harmony. I work in a dialysis clinic and my manager does not get along well with my co-worker. It is difficult to create a positive, harmonious environment when there is so much tension. My natural characteristic leads me to stay to myself and let them work it out amongst themselves, but their conflict can easily cause distraction. I must keep my focus on the goals of my job and learn appropriate stress management skills. Two characteristics of mine, that led me to become a nurse, are caring and compassion. I would always strive to improve on those characteristics and not allow myself to grow cold in my profession. Nursing is a profession of growth and taking the StrengthsFinder assessment provided good insight on my strengths and how I can better improve in a nursing leadership role.

The strength finder assessment results reflected my strengths as restorative, deliberative, adaptability, harmony, and input. Restorative means I like to solve problems, enjoy challenging situations, and feel energetic when I face them. Deliberative means I am vigilant, careful, and a very private person. It also means I know that some things might seem okay, but they are not okay beneath the surface. Adaptability means that I believe in living in the moment and do not see the future to be a fixed destination; instead, the future depends on the choices that I make right now. Harmony is that I do not believe in conflicts. I tend to avoid them and know there is nothing to be gained from friction between people. Input means I am inquisitive in nature and like to know more about things (Rath, 2013).
The core values that I would like to strengthen are our focus and arranger. Focus plays an important role when you are in a leadership position. The promotion of focus-related activities will help positively develop leadership qualities (Li et al., 2022). Being an arranger would help me be more organized and help me put all the important pieces of the puzzle together to help with my productivity (Comer et al., 2019). I would also like to strengthen adaptability and harmony to help me be a better leader. Strengthening adaptability would help me adapt to difficult situations and circumstances and prepare me for them. Strengthening harmony would help me be a better leader by encouraging everyone to work together on a solution, instead of creating friction or conflicts (Rath, 2013). I would like to strengthen my natural characteristics like input and deliberative so that I can continue to learn more and be careful before I take any steps.
