Develop an evidence based health promotion Scientific Poster based on the practice problem identified in
module one. The poster is in essence a visual of your findings from your teaching paper.
**Students will build a scientific poster based on their search of the literature. Students will use the articles from their discussion forums and paper. In addition, students may use additional scientific
support to build their poster, such as journal articles and information from reputable scholarly websites
(.org, .gov, and .edu) such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Do not use sources
such as Wikipedia and Web MD; these are not scholarly references.

**Students may use this ETSU CON template to build their poster.
****In addition, Students may use other poster templates, but please keep the size to 36 X 48 inches, as this is a standard poster size*** Poster Format
The scientific poster should have the following sections.
1. Introduction & Background of your literature review (search of the scientific literature);
2. Purpose Statement & Research Question(s)
3. Literature Review and Methods: databases searched, key search terms, inclusion and exclusion
criteria such as (age of article, type of article, article focus, as examples).
4. Findings or main results; and that details how the problem may be lessened (what interventions does
the evidence [literature] support as the best approach/best practice for ameliorating the problem;
support this information with evidence from peer-reviewed sources).
-Note key findings from the literature
– Include teaching plan highlights and;
– Technology.
5- Conclusion and Nursing Implications
6. References or QR code.
Description of sections:
I. Introduction & Background:
(a) Introduction:
· Identify and introduce the selected health promotion issue/problem. The introduction is vital as
students need to explain what the health problem entails.
· What is known about the problem (cite sources)?
· Describe and define the problem (Define drug addiction or cutting, as example and cite sources).
· Include supportive science (Cite sources)
Revised January 2022
(a) Background: Note the relevance of the problem to society.
· What makes this a significant problem for society?
· Note pertinent morbidity & mortality statistics (CDC and .gov websites have solid stats)
· Note the costs to society (such as, substance use disorder cost America $600 billion dollars annually, cite source).
· Significance to nursing practice, such as (Hospitalizations related to opioid use
misuse/dependence significantly increased from 2002 to 2012, 301,707 to 520,275 (Ronan & Herzig, 2016).
· Include supportive science (Cite sources)
II. Purpose Statement & Research Question(s)
III. Literature Review and Methods:
· Note the databases searched (CINAHL, PubMed, Cochrane, ERIC, as examples), number of
articles (two or more, as example), type of articles, inclusion and exclusion criteria of sources
(Not older than 5 years, focused on your health condition, as examples).
IV. Findings:
· Identify and include key findings from the search of the literature.
o Include supportive science (Cite sources)
o Include teaching plan highlights and;
o Technology
V. Conclusions and Implications:
· Describe nursing implications found from the literature search.
· Include supportive science (Cite sources)
References expected, use proper 7th edition APA in text citations. Students may build posters into their poster or
provide references on a separate document to save poster space, upload the reference page along with the poster
to the associated drop box. Another option to increase poster space, if needed, is for students to create a QR
Code for the poster references, the audience can scan the QR Code to review the scientific support. **Learn
