By: Gene Deszca, Cynthia Ingols, Tupper Cawsey
Publisher: Sage, 2020
ISBN: 978-1544351407
Please utilize the rubric below:
(1) Strategic factors that define the problem Diagnose what the specific problem is. There
may also be secondary problems (case study questions may point to these). What are
the strategic factors that must be satisfied to solve the problem? [20 points]
(2) People affected by the problem Following Mary Parker Follett’s “Law of the Situation,”
identify what special considerations must be taken into account. Who are the
stakeholders, and what roles do they play? What assumptions or attributions are you
making about the problem and the circumstances under which it occurs? [20 points]
(3) Quest for options to the problem. Determine what are the options (recommended
procedures, practices, and techniques) for dealing with or solving the problem (the
main textbook should help in identifying these). [20 points]
(4) Recommendation or decision (case study questions may act as prompts) to solve the
problem. These decisions need to be provided with supporting analysis and evidence
that explains or justifies why the decision was made. [20 points]
(5) In addition, the student should focus on the generalizable assessment of the case
study or simulation reflecting on the takeaways, lessons and insights derived from it.
This should also include reflections related to the specific topic area on which the case
focuses. What supports/contradicts topic theories? What did you learn? How did that
make you feel? What would you do differently? [20 points]
