To prepare for Part 1 of your Trends project, you will search for information that will enable you to identify the three top trends in your profession or field. Once you’ve identified the three trends you plan to discuss, use the APA 7 Template for UCSP 615 Trends Project to start on Part 1. At least three sources should be incorporated within Part 1. Part 1 is a graded draft due at the end of Week 2; you should complete the title page, introductory paragraph, discussion of each trend, and include in-text citations and references.
In Part 2, you will identify an issue of interest to you in the same industry or field and explore its impact to or effect on the industry, as well as develop your conclusion. You will also make any necessary revisions to Part 1 after reviewing your professor’s feedback. At least three additional sources should be incorporated within Part 2. Part 2 is a graded draft due at the end of Week 3; you should continue to use the Trends Project Template and complete the sections below the Level 1 heading titled “An Important Emerging Issue.”
For your Final Trends Project, you will incorporate the feedback that you have received on Part 1 and Part 2 and edit/refine your project. At this point you project will be 5-7 pages in length (not including the cover page and reference page) and include at least six sources. Each source listed on your references page should be associated with at least one in-text citation within the project. The Final Trends Project is due at the end of Week 4.
After reviewing the many sources available to you, you will choose those that are relevant, timely, and helpful in understanding the issues of your industry. This should enable you to hone your search terms to find resources that will help you identify the top trends in your industry. A trend could be something well-known in the industry, a new development, or something you consider unrecognized or disputed.
You will use your research to provide evidence for your conclusions about the trends you choose, and your initial choices may change as you read more deeply. Review resources that you find in periodicals, journals, newspapers, industry blogs, and other websites to choose the best references to inform your choice of trends. Use industry-specific keywords, and take notes on your reading because you will be building on this research for the next phase in which you will choose an issue (it could be within one of the three top trends or it could be new) and conduct more research.
You will provide an analysis of the issue, its effect on the industry, and how an organization would address this issue—whether to avoid or make use of it—to its own advantage.
