Find 5 credible/valuable sources and read them: if one of your sources is a book, you may read and focus on just one chapter, or, if you have a long article, you may focus on only one section of the article–the length of the source is not so important at this point.
Write an Annotated Bibliography, ~ 750 words total.
Describe your I-Search topic in one developed paragraph.
My I-Search topic: Use this and add to the paper: Why Do We Need Affirmative Action Today More Than We Did in the Past? The research topic that I have chosen to explore is “Why Do We Need Affirmative Action Today More Than We Did in the Past?” In the United States, affirmative action is a policy that actively works to improve employment, education, and other possibilities for those who have faced prejudice in these settings. Race, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, and age are among the factors considered in determining whether a person is eligible for affirmative action. In implication, affirmative action refers to any policy or program that aims at assisting a disadvantaged group of people. The disadvantaged group that has been chosen to be managed in this assignment involves the victims of recidivism. “Recidivism is the term used to describe an ever exploding population of men and women who, despite great effort, repeatedly return to jails, prisons, or other institutions” (Carbajal, n.d.). These people are highly disadvantaged, and if they are not assisted through the formulation
Summarize 5 potential sources, 100-200 words PER source (essentially, one fully developed paragraph for each source)
Be concise: provide just the key ideas and do NOT include direct quotes in your summary
Save your commentary/opinions for your I-Search paper itself: If you want to comment or analyze a source, do so, but do it in your journal. The Annotated Bibliography is not your I-Search paper–it’s a summary of 5 sources you’ll use in your paper.
Provide a variety of sources: do NOT rely on just the Internet. Include interviews, web sites, books, newspaper and magazine articles, professional journals, and encyclopedias.
Summarize using your own words and phrasing: this should sound as if it’s coming from you, not from the source itself
You may “summarize” potential sources: for instance, if you have an interview set up, but have not yet conducted it, summarize the key reasons why you chose this person and why you think the interview will be valuable
Directly after each summary, write a Reference entry for that source, following APA documentation guidelines: note that there’s a significant difference between citing a source in the text of your paper vs. citing a source on your References Page.

Abstract:
Many legal experts think the U.S. Supreme Court will soon tell Harvard University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill that they can no longer use race as a factor in admissions. Such a ruling would apply to any college getting federal support – virtually all of them. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
