Task: Write an essay on one of the following themes:
Dreams versus realities of immigration
Or
Language and immigration
Instructions:
Write approximately 1000-1100 words.
Your essay must include evidence from at least three of the seven texts (listed below) discussed so far in each of the 3 or more body paragraphs.
Suggestion – you may follow compare and contrast, cause and effect, analytical, or argumentative format of essay keeping at the centre of your discussion one theme that you have identified during class discussions/reading of these texts. Apply the knowledge (from COM101) on how to narrow down your own essay topic to one specific aspect from any of the two topics given above.
Ensure that you read the attached rubric carefully before submitting your essay.
Due dates:
Submit your essay by 11:59 PM on Saturday, June 18th or submit it by 11:59 PM on Sunday June 19th.
There will be no penalty if you submit by 11:59 PM on Sunday, June 19th.
Penalty will start to apply after June 19th- 11:59 PM.
However, anyone submitting after June 18th (11:59 PM) but before June 19th (11:59 PM) will get a grade without any feedback.
External research is allowed provided you choose relevant and credible sources from Seneca Libraries and include them in Works Cited in proper format. This research of secondary sources is over-and-above the inclusion of the Primary Sources below. This research is not in place of the use of three required Primary Texts.
Follow MLA style of citation.
Submit only in MS Word format. Any unreadable format (like .pages) will not be graded.
