Choose a megachurch based on its size, location, name, or whatever. Spend some time
examining their website.
Your report should cover these topics, but not necessarily in this precise order:
Overview
• What is the megachurch called? Is there anything significant about the name? Does
it sound churchy or not?
• Where is it located? Is there more than one ‘campus’? How many attend?
• What are facilities like (sanctuary, gym, café, parking lots, etc.)?
• How does it position itself in relation to the ‘acorn’ (i.e., the Bible)? What does the
website say about the church’s approach to/understanding of Scripture?
Relationship to ‘the world’
• How does the megachurch use the stuff of ‘the world’ (like music, sports, or
specialized ministries) to engage its members and attract newcomers?
• How does the website itself look? You could compare it to the website of the
monastery you reported on.
Comparisons
• What are some notable similarities and differences between this megachurch and
the evangelical settings and events seen in the lectures/videos/book?
Your report should be about 5 typed, double-spaced pages, with a regular 12-point font and
margins. You should include photographs, but altogether they should not take up more than
one page of your report. Your report should be clearly written in standard academic English.
