Children’s Literature Activity. Choose one of the options
Purpose of this assignment is to integrate digital technologies into literacy instruction which is safe and enhance learning and share the experience with classmates.
Select an award-winning children’s trade book and a way to present that book to children and to your class members. Choices include the following:
A. Digital story: Create a digital story to retell the book. You cannot use the illustrations in the book for the story, other than the cover. You may create your own graphics or use graphics found on the internet. Please do not use graphics from another person’s digital story of the same book. Also, be sure to cite any graphics that you use that are not self-created. Submit your digital story or a link to it.
Book talk, book trailer, and book teaser: Create a book talk and a video book trailer. In either the book talk or the book trailer, incorporate a book teaser that highlights the narrative of a book, or gives the synopsis of the story in an intriguing manner.
Research about book talks, book trailers, and book teasers if not familiar with it. Present your completed project to this class or to a class of children. Submit your script for the book talk, your book trailer in digital form (or a link to it), and your thoughts about the value of using these methods to motivate children to read.
C.  Interactive read-aloud: Create a lesson plan for an interactive read-aloud. Focus on no more than three standards, and directly target them during the interactive read-aloud. Implement your lesson with a child or group of children. Submit your lesson plan and a description of what went well, what didn’t go well, and your thoughts about the interactive read-aloud strategy.
