Topic need to be approved and an outline of your paper to make sure you are properly scoped. Include details so I have a sense of where you’re going with your idea. It is time to start thinking about your topic for the final paper due at the end of the semester. The 3 page paper will be a policy recommendation that is supported by a risk breakdown structure (RBS) and assessment. The RBS figure will not be included as part of the total page count. Pretend that I am the CEO of your organization and you want to convince me to implement a change to eliminate or reduce a risk that the company is facing. Write comprehensively so that I understand the context, your recommendation, implementation and communication plan, at least three benefits of the plan, at least three risks to the plan, and risk mitigation strategies. Include assumptions to go along with your risks. The RBS can be used to demonstrate either the breadth or depth to which you’ve analyzed the situation. Integrate the topics we have covered in this course to demonstrate your mastery of risk management concepts. This is a lot of information for a 3 page document so be concise and logical. Scope your recommendation appropriately and be as specific as you can in order to explain your vision. By the end of the paper, I should have a strong understanding of a weakness or threat to the organization and how I can address it. I should have a good idea of what I’m facing if I decide to proceed with your plan, have confidence that the organization has the resources to do what you propose, and be able to make a decision, hopefully in your favor. You are in a good place if I can walk away thinking “Yes, we should definitely listen to this plan.” Common pitfalls of this assignment are not using risk vocabulary, not applying risk management steps or strategies, over-explaining company background or not explaining it at all, or simply writing a technical document or standard operating procedure. The paper should be a narrative written in a business/formal tone and supported by tables/figures. I will be looking for you to answer questions such as: What is the organization and the risk it faces? Why is there a risk or what circumstances are contributing to risk? Is risk terminology being used appropriately? Are there qualitative and quantitative methods used to analyze the risk? Is there a RBS that shows the risk in context of other risks? Were risks analyzed, evaluated, and summarized into a formal assessment? Is there a clear distinction between preventative controls and risk responses?
