Classmates,
I only have a few questions for our unit-5 project. First, is an Abstract required? Does our choice of company have to be preapproved? And finally, are we permitted to resubmit previous work?
For last week’s discussion, I selected electric vehicles as my product to improve. The two beneficial features that electric vehicles offer me are saving money and saving time. Due to their electric engines, electric vehicles do not require gasoline, oil changes, or even engine air filter replacement, all of which equals a savings in our household budget. Additionally, in the State I live, electronic vehicles are allowed to travel in the HOV (high occupancy vehicle/Carpool) lane, which saves me a significant amount of time during my twice daily rush-hour commute through a large metropolitan. Currently, consumer behavior has not indicated a full adoption of eletric vehicles, and some obvious barriers still apply such as charging times and charging infrastructure. While there is a reluctance to a full transition, I think a significant segment of the population, like myself, are beginning to realize the benefit of electric vehicles for short travel, such as to and from work, while still maintaining a traditional gasoline vehicle for longer journeys or more strenuous trips. Electric vehicles fit my psychographic by complementing my busy lifestyle, and my money-saving culture.
In terms of meeting my needs, as defined by Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs pyramid, electric vehicles fulfil my safety needs by preserving my resources. While other’s may view their decision to switch to an electric vehicle as service to a different need, I utilize and view the benefit of an electric vehicle as a better use of my resources. Woefully, I can not say I chose an electric vehicle to save the world, nor as a symbol of wealth or prestige, as one may classify the action under the self-actualization or esteem needs, my decision was selfish and based on reduced costs. The improvements I would like to see come to electric vehicles follows that same sentiment, I would like to work towards the adoption of faster charging, lighter batteries as technological advancements allow, and the transition to traditional wall outlets (as some EV manufactures have begun) to simplify the charging process with our current electrical gird.
My mission statement for the company that will accomplish these goals is: MyCompany’s mission is to impower life by preserving time, increasing mobility, and simplifying connections.
Our specific marketing goals to achieve during our marketing strategy are:
Attracting industry innovators to aid our development.
Creating brand/product awareness among consumers and EV manufactures.
Becoming the standard for all EVs.
