1. Describe the conflict. Describe the major parties in the conflict, and the differences between them that
result in conflict. Please disguise the identities of the individuals and/or organizations involved in the
conflict by using pseudonyms for people, places, and institutions (e.g., the name of the business, church
or school where the conflict occurred). Describe the specific circumstances that led to the conflict, what
the conflict was, and the obstacles to conflict resolution in this case.
2. Identify a theory. Describe how at least one theory (or more) from the following seven (attribution,critical, psychodynamic, ripeness, social exchange, systems or uncertainty – all mentioned in Managing Conflict Through Communication text) is/are present in the chosen conflict situation. Be specific about the behaviors that show evidence of your theory.
3. Challenges faced. Explain the particular challenges faced in negotiating this conflict and how your
chosen theory approaches these challenges.
4. The intervention. What steps did you or would you take to effectively resolve the conflict described?
Be specific about the actual steps and behaviors that you would strive to incorporate.
5. Describe the outcome to the conflict. Answer questions such as: Was the conflict resolved? What
conflict resolution process was attempted to resolve the conflict? If the conflict was not resolved, what could have happened to adequately resolve the conflict using principles learned in the course?
Throughout the paper, integrate a Biblical perspective of the attitudes, values and perspective that could be
applied to the conflict, the chosen theory, the attempted intervention and the resolution.
