The main purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate the ability to critically
evaluate, select, and apply best practices and evidence-based interventions for a
specific clinical diagnosis or problem (Competency 8).
Select a clinical diagnosis or problem for a specific group and read
empirical research articles, books, and chapters on the interventions for that diagnosis
or problem or prevention strategies for a problem.
* 10 peer reviewed empirical studies which present the latest and most effective
interventions for that problem.
For instance, depression in adults- what is the most effective treatment for reducing depression in adults?
Describe each study clearly and concisely, including participant demographics, sample size, a brief and clear description of the treatment protocols, and results and outcomes.
When critiquing the evidence, critically examine the effectiveness of the interventions.
When considering effectiveness of the intervention, examine the methodological rigor
(i.e., design, measures, sampling method and sample size, effect size, percentage
improvement, follow-up assessment, etc), and use with diverse populations or in
diverse settings.
Address gaps and limitations of the research studies.
