Due to increased use of Advance technology, there has been much improvement in the healthcare system and Organization. The technologies not only used for the diagnosis or treatment purpose but also for the collection of data and information and records saving in the system. At present most of the healthcare organization have implemented the electronic health record system which is used to save documents, data and all the medical information of the patient. Health care technology trends are usually related to data or information.
One of the top healthcare trends is the electronic medical records that benefits of having medical records available digitally. It makes the practitioners that they can have all the information from the start to present in a patient readily available that they can share to other health care providers with ease. This might be already a little old to some of the countries however, there are still countries that uses the traditional pen and paper due to complicated healthcare systems. There are medical devices that the patient can access the medical devices through smartphone. Wherein if for monitoring and they need to bring the medical device at home, the can monitor it using their own smartphone. And the healthcare provider can monitor it as well with his smartphone.
Electronic Medical Records is the most promising in health care and most impacting especially for the nurses because every nursing intervention can be recorded digitally with ease as the nurse administered certain medication and for doubles check. Since it is already digital, medications can be read easily especially for the spellings. Because one of the most common malpractice of nurse is unreadable handwriting of doctors that can lead to wrong medication. Another thing is, all the orders of the physician such as medication, laboratory test and imaging request are forwarded automatically to each department. For example, release of medication will be sent to pharmacy, laboratory request will be sent to the laboratory and so on. Some challenges associated with healthcare technology include their unsustainability, due to lack of scale-up plans and timely evaluations. Other risks include noncompliance with data protection policies, inadequate data governance, and overestimated expectations resulting from the rapid introduction of new technologies. Hackers can misuse the health information of the patients. So, it is important to protect the information by data encryption, password settings, avoiding the use of unauthenticated networks etc.
