This video-based case study follows the story of a young entrepreneur, Austin Allan, who took the risk to leave his job in banking and launch his own company in New York City. Austin’s big idea came from his personal experience: a favorite food product that he enjoyed while living in Spain but could not find in grocery stores on his return to the United States. He wanted to introduce Americans to the product and he believed that there would be a market for “gazpacho,” a chilled vegetable soup, due to its tastiness, health benefits, and convenience.
In the video clip for Week 1, Austin talks about how his entrepreneurial journey started, and where his idea came from. He explains how he found the confidence to ignore detractors and stay true to his vision, and to persist through the daunting early days of testing out his business idea and planning for the launch.
