Advice
• You may structure your writing as you see fit. For example, you may wish to begin with a short summary of the main ideas of the text that you want to discuss. This may not be necessary, however, if you want to intertwine explaining the text with your reflection.
• You should avoid simply describing what the text is saying. While you will need to explain the points of the text – ensure that you are doing this for a reason (to demonstrate your reflection or analysis)
• You should avoid long quotes and use quotation only if you have a strong reason for doing so.
• This is a reflection, so you can use your personal experiences. However, maintain a balanced response and support any arguments you make.
• Avoid simply stating your reaction – analyze why you have this reaction and what you can learn from this.

• an ability to use and to refer to source material in line with British academic
conventions
