The story of the Millers presents fascinating attributes of families in contemporary societies. In many instances, people tend to copy what their fellows are doing with a perception that these other individuals have a better life, just like the Millers admired the Stones. Although Bill is portrayed as an outgoing individual without limits, his achievement may be derailed by the fact they fail to live within reality. Interestingly, he falls in love with a lady who has the unique trait of being keen on details and caring about nature. These elements of the characters help us to understand the value of human diversity in the story. In my view, Carver’s diction is pivotal in narrating the story. His approach to natural events in this system proves fundamental in helping the reader to relate with the various thematic aspects. Pretense is a significant aspect of people’s behaviors in societies.
