Position Purpose
As a Registered Nurse at Summer Health, you are responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating evidence-based nursing care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal healthcare outcomes for our patients
The Registered Nurse is a key member of the health care team responsible for ensuring nursing professional, organization, legal and ethical standards are met. The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and delegating to other health professionals such as Enrolled Nurses and Health Assistants in Nursing.

Local Work Environment
Graduate nurses will complete two six month clinical rotations as designated across any of the four hospital sites. Graduates are supported throughout the program by a designated graduate support team of clinical support nurses and coordinator; as well as, ward support from preceptors, educators, and Nurse Unit Manager.

Practices within a professional and ethical nursing framework in accordance with the policies of the organization
Practices in a way that acknowledges the dignity, culture, values, beliefs, and rights of individuals /groups and aligning to Summer Health’s organizational values.
Acts as an advocate for patients within organizational and management structures of Summer Health.
Recognises the difference in accountability and responsibility between registered nurses, enrolled nurses and unlicensed health care workers.
Understands requirements for delegations and supervision of practice
Raises concerns about inappropriate delegation within organizational and management structures of Summer Health.
Actively promote/undertake self-development and learning.
Actively support and participate in quality improvement and research initiatives as designated.
Undertake performance review for each 6-month clinical rotation and achieve expected competency levels for each clinical rotation appraisal (formative and summative) as per NMBA standards of practice for the Registered Nurse.
Successfully complete all of the mandatory requirements of the Early Graduate Program as specified.

Provides safe and effective evidence-based nursing care to achieve optimal health outcomes for patients
Delegates aspects of care to others according to their competence and scope of practice
Prioritizes workload based on needs, acuity and optimal time for an intervention
Responds effectively to unexpected or rapidly changing clinical situations
Accepts accountability for own actions and seeks guidance when a situation exceeds experience or knowledge
Documents all aspects of care, analyses and interprets data accurately utilizing the organizations clinical patient information and documentation systems
Collaborative and Therapeutic Practice

Participate in the emergency incident response activities as directed.
