They need to work out the internal rate of return (IRR) associated with each loan so that they can decide which loans are profitable and assess the investment opportunity. They started by opening each file in Excel and applying the XIRR function, but they’ve estimated that it will take several days to work through the full batch. They can’t wait several days for an answer. Then they had the sense to ask you for help. You gently explained to them that Excel isn’t the best tool for this kind of job and that their problems could be solved in a few hours with R. Now you have to deliver on your promise. Having spoken to the team, you conclude that this might not be the last time that they need to solve a similar problem and you decide to do the job properly. Rather than knock together a quick and dirty script, you will create
a proper R package
that satisfies the principles below:
Technical Specifications

The package must contain at least one exported function which takes an input of a single character vector of a file name and outputs the annualised internal rate of return as a single numeric vector

The annualised internal rate of return function must be original

The csv input files (attached) will have two columns, one with a date in Excel format, and the other a payment
