Law-Making Systems & Legal Structure of Your Own Country (Sultanate of Oman)
You are required to put together a Report on your own Country’s’ Law-Making Systems & Legal Structure, including a comparison with the Australian System/Structure.

Part A
Your report must contain the following THREE key areas
1. Law-Making Systems (e.g. Parliament)

Start your research by doing some simple “googling”. I have given you (below), some key areas/questions under each of the THREE sections. You may do your research with other students, but, you must submit your own final report as an individual student. There will be some class-time available to do the research/report so that you can seek the guidance/assistance of the teacher and/or other students.

Suggested areas to look for are as follows:

Section 1 – Law-Making Systems
1. Type of system – democracy?, monarchy?, communist?, other?

2. Court hierarchy?
3. Original & appellate jurisdiction?
4. Criminal & Civil jurisdictions?
5. Types of court cases

7. Adversary or inquisitorial system of trial

Section 3 – Law Enforcement

2. Types of criminal laws & sanctions (try to find at least three different crimes)
3. Types of civil laws – examples and explanations

Other interesting/unique features
1. E.g. death penalty for some crimes
2. Military rather than police
3. Other features

This can be done in written paragraphs, chart-form or dot-point presentation.
