Introduction
Sydney New Year’s Eve is the world famous yearly multi-tiered event held at Sydney Harbour, which is centred on the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Australia. This eventis held every New Year’s Eve, and it has two main pyrotechnic  displays that are core features of this annual event (City of Sydney, 2018). These are “9 pm Family Fireworks” and “Midnight Fireworks”. Both the Shows of the “New Year’s Eve” are broadcasted at national and global platform (Banks et al. 2016). The report herewith deals with event management aspects in Sydney New Year’s Eve 2017 and also explains the main factors of event and its management.

Purpose of the event
The aim of 2017 Sydney’s event is to highlight vibrant mood and cultural diversity of Sydney. The Sydney’s New Year Eve festival celebrated at Sydney Harbour is the world’s famous New Year’s event that grabs the attention of international tourist. The objective of 2017’s ending event is to offer a unique experience to an audience of technologically advanced fireworks displays and to maintain the image as a number one New Year’s Eve event around the world.

Task description:

For this assignment you are to attend the event that you nominated and described in Assignment 2.

Your assignment should identify and critically analyse the positive and negative impacts of the event and evaluate aspects of its operational management to determine whether it has successfully realised its goals and resulted in stakeholder satisfaction.

The information for this assignment can be obtained from your own personal observations whilst attending the event, from discussions with event stakeholders (attendees, event organisers, staff and volunteers, stallholders, local government etc.) and from secondary information such as newspaper reports, social media commentary etc)

The event should be evaluated using the principles of sustainability and the triple bottom line approach (refer to and cite the academic literature when defining and explaining these concepts).

A reference list should be provided for any academic literature cited. At least 3 academic references should be cited.

This assignment can be presented as either a 1500 word essay or as a report. It is recommended that students include photos of the event that demonstrate the impacts they observe whilst attending the event.

Please note: This is an independent, self-directed assessment task and therefore students will be responsible for attending, negotiating any permissions if appropriate, their own transportation and any expenses incurred attending the event.

Assessment 2: Case study report

Task description:

In order to complete Assignment 2 and Assignment 3 you will need to choose an event in your local area to attend and evaluate during session 3. The event must be of, either a cultural, sporting, or business nature. It can be a one time event such as a fundraising event, or an annual event such as a marathon or a regularly held event such as a local farmers market. A mega-event cannot be selected for this assessment task.

Assignment 2 and 3 are closely linked and will be based on the same event that you choose to attend during the semester.

You do not need to have attended the event in order to write Assignment 2. However you must be able to attend the event before completing the event evaluation in Assignment 3.

Using report format describe and analyse the planning intentions of the event in regards to the:

1. Purpose, goals and objectives of the event;
2. Event location, duration, frequency;
3. The Event program;
4. Community and corporate stakeholder relationships
5. Event governance
6. Expected event impacts and impact assessment

You can obtain this information from the event website, by speaking to the event organiser, through personal observation as well as online and secondary research. You do not need to have attended the event in order to write assignment 2 however you must be able to attend the event before completing assignment 3.
