Objective 11.1 p.349 “Describe the nature of conflict and its attributes”

Despite wishes and cultural myths to the contrary, conflict is a natural and unavoidable part of any relationship. Because conflict can’t be escaped, the challenge is how to deal with it effectively so that it strengthens a relationship rather than weakens it. All conflicts possess the same characteristics: expressed struggle, perceived incompatible goals, perceived scarce resources, interdependence, and inevitability.

Question: Describe how the recurring conflicts in one of your important relationships embody the characteristics described in this section

I’m studying for my class and need an explanation.

There are two essays that need to peer review, and each peer review should answer these following questions.
Is the essay persuasive? Summarize the essay’s argument.
Does the essay use the introduction to frame the topic? Does it include a strong thesis statement? Does the introduction provide the reader with a sense of how the author will make his or her argument? How might the author improve his or her introduction?
Does each body paragraph have a topic sentence that introduces the particular focus of the paragraph? Identify paragraphs that need topic sentences.
Does the author provide a number of distinct reasons to support the claim? Identify each of the reasons. Do any seem unclear?
Does the author provide evidence to support the reasons? Where is the strongest use of evidence? Where could they use more evidence?
Does the essay make the larger stakes of the topic clear to the reader? What broader issues do you think are connected to this topic? How might the author make those stakes clearer?
Does the order of supporting reasons make sense to you? Can you think of a better way to organize the parts of the argument? Is there something that should go before something else?
Does the essay have a conclusion? How might the author improve the conclusion?
Does the author cite credible sources? Suggest specific places where the author might look for (more) sources.
Does the author consider counter-arguments in the essay? Where could he or she engage in some “acknowledgment and response”? Where could one object to his or her reasoning? Don’t be afraid to raise hypothetical objections.
What aspects of the issue do you feel like the author skipped over or did not take into account? What might he or she have overlooked in considering the problem.

INSTRUCTIONS: For this discussion, use the link below to read “The Man Who Was Caged in a Zoo,” by Pamela Newkirk, published by The Guardian. How does her presentation of Ota Benga’s life compare to that on the film “Human Zoos”? What insights from the essay would the founders of Africana Studies, or scholars who desire to retell history to acknowledge the contributions, culture, and experiences of people of African descent? That is, what does the film leave out that would humanize Benga or Congolese culture?

1.It is important to include overhead cost, to show what expenses that are needed to run the operations. It also helps in proper pricing of the things need. You do not want to leave cost up in the air and quote by a ballpark guess. Having a overhead cost should give you a proper breakdown of cost that are not directly seen but will be incurred for the project to be successful. The narrative of a budget, is a fiscal narrative of the budget. It explains the calculations involved in coming up with cost estimates. Most budgets include descriptions of cost and not the real dollar amount. I would start by writing down everything I needed for my project. Then I would take sometime and compare the cost of the things I needed and where they can by found. I would check to see if the product is in stock and ready to be shipped or picked up. After getting prices and quotes, I would put together and price list. Add this cost information including tax and shipping cost to my overhead cost in my budget for my grant.

2. It is important to include your overhead costs in your grant budget because without that money there wouldn’t be anyone to help keep the business or research running. Also, there would be no place to keep the whole process going. A budget narrative relates to the actual budget because it explains what the money is going to be used for and what they are hoping to get out of that section of the budget and process. I think preparing this type of narrative it would be efficient to make a like checklist of some sorts, to see what they are using in that section and what the outcome is that they are hoping to get. Also, what the money is going to be used for in a step by step and also a detailed account of the money and how much is going where and why they are using the money for that reason.
