Week 2 Discussion

H.G. Wells once said, “Statistical thinking will one day be as necessary for efficient citizenship as the ability to read and write!” Take a position on whether you agree or disagree with this statement, and provide a rationale for your response.

RE: Week 2 Discussion

Hello Class and Professor,

At first glance one would think how could statistics be just as important as reading and writing. Now have somewhat of a better understanding of statistical thinking, statistics plays some type of role in many of the things we do in our every day lives. We use a trial and error approach as we navigate through life. We use certain phones, laptops, body wash, lotion, etc. based on research, weather it be research of our own or word of mouth. Before this class, I probably would have disagreed with this statement, now I would have to say that I agree. Especially now more than every, in getting us through this pandemic. Statistics allows for the CDC and health care industry to know how many people are suffering from COVID-19, how many have dies, and how many have recovered. This same statistical thinking and will help when it comes to coming up with a cure.BUSN602 assignment: nursing essay help
I’m working on a Excel exercise and need support.

I need help with a BUSN 602 assignment. Keep in mind question 9 and 10 have to be answered in a formula.Make my group project presentation
I need help with a Mathematics question. All explanations and answers will be used to help me learn.

Based on the two articles and videos answer the questions a PowerPoint format is fine

I will upload the YouTube videos and chapter 4 and the article

Your video should answer the following questions regarding DeStefano et al. (2004) paper. Please make sure you re-read chapter 4 carefully so you know the difference between proof and evidence, causation and association, statistical significance, observational versus experimental studies. Please also make sure you understand the confidence interval paper from NIH. Great paper! Better than any explanation I’ve seen in any textbook. This is all standard college statistics so if you feel the book isn’t enough there are plenty of videos that you can find just by using these keywords in a YouTube search. Discussions and discussion summaries You discussions must be done through Blackboard so that I can get a clear sense of each group’s process. If you have a phone conversation that’s perfectly fine but the summary of the conversation – not the entire Word for word conversation (that would be ridiculous) — must be added to the Blackboard discussion by the Group secretaryas Minutes of the Meeting with a date, time, and summary, and who contributed to the overall process in the meeting and what their contributions were. EXTRA CREDIT Groups of five or more get five points extra credit for each group member. The group leader gets 10 additional extra points and is responsible for submitting the final version through blackboard. If you are not comfortable with computers and Blackboard then you should not be the group leader. The group leader is responsible for making the end credits at the end of the video. No end credits… No extra credit! The Group secretary who takes and posts the minutes of all meetings gets five additional extra points. if you don’t know what is meant by the term, “minutes of meetings“ you can Google it. Each correctly answered question is worth one classroom participation point but there must be audio and video for each question. All group members must watch and approve the final version because it is being submitted as a group. Since this project is being used for class participation you will get no extra credit points for working alone. Audio Narration You do not have to read your slides exactly as they appear. It is perfectly fine to embellish a little bit. You do not even have to use PowerPoint if you don’t want to. But most students that I’ve met seem to love PowerPoint. A lot! The questions Each question is worth a point of class participation. There must be audio and video for each question. Please don’t put any background music on your presentation except perhaps for the Title Slide and the End Credits. 1. What is meant by the term, principal Investigator? 2. Who was the principal investigator in the study? 3. What are his/her qualifications? 4. Who is the statistician for this paper? 5. What are his/her qualifications? 6. How was this research funded? (In other words, how did they get the money to pay everybody to do the study?) 7. What were the requirements for the case children? In other words what characteristics were required for children to be considered cases? (Hint: there is more than one requirement.) 8. What were the requirements for the control children? 9. Were any children excluded from the study? Why? 10. How were the control children matched to the case children? 11. What was the primary (i. e., most important… read the title and the abstract) research question that the study attempted to explore? 12. What was the null hypothesis associated with the primary research question? 13. What was the alternative hypothesis associated with the primary research question? 14. Are there any statistically significant raw odds ratios reported in Table 3? in the total sample for the unadjusted analyses? 15. If you answered ‘yes’ provide a single (that means one and only one) odds ratio and its associated confidence interval that you think indicates statistical significance. 16. Explain why this odds ratio is statistically significant by utilizing the associated confidence interval. 17. Does this significant confidence interval prove anything? 18. From this particular confidence interval isthere any evidence for cause and effect? Association? Proof? Explain. 19. What explanation does the paper give for the statistical significance of the raw odds ratio that you chose? 20. What on earth is the birth certificate sample? 21. Why on earth was the birth certificate sample used? 22. Provide an example of a covariate that was used in the study? 23. What on earth are adjusted analyses? 24. If you had to write the abstract for this paper yourself would you write it any differently? If so write your own abstract. you will lose 10 points for any unsubstantiated opinions. I hate unsubstantiated opinions! 25. Pretend you are a news reporter for, say, Fox News or MSNBC: Give us a quick summary of the paper with regard to the primary research question by providing a single odds ratio and its interpretation. Don’t make it too long. Don’t put your own opinion into it unless you can support that opinion from the paper itself in your news-piece. You will lose 10 points for any unsupported opinions. I hate unsupported opinions!Examine Standards of Budgeting in Managerial Accounting
