In October 1962 he had found out that a Soviet short-range missile was in Cuba, he had put a blockade to stop the ships from reaching the island. Ten months later they had the sign of a Nuclear test-ban treaty with Khrushchev, prime minister Harold Macmillan, and Kennedy all sign this ban.
On November 22, 1963, during the time he was going to start his reelection the president was in a motorcade to drive through town when he was shot by Oswald and later was announced dead.
