Phil 100 – Ninth Assignment

Write a 3 to 5 page paper in response to the following prompt. Your script should be double spaced, 12pt text.

The Self as Agent: Why does Korsgaard think that it is important to think of ourselves as agents if we are going to properly understand personal identity? How, if at all, does this focus on people as agents give us an account that is different from Parfits’? What problems or benefits do you think such an agent-centered account might have?

Before writing your paper, make sure you make a plan. Also, it may be helpful to review the “writing a paper” checklist slide that we discussed in the first class (available on the course site under files/slides and handouts).

Papers are due Sunday November 1st by 11:59pm. As always, you should explain the ideas you are discussing in your own words. If you use someone else’s words in your paper, be sure to indicate this clearly (e.g. with quotation marks), including a citation of the original source of the text.Geography Research Paper Guidelines: assignment help philadelphia

Geography Research Paper Guidelines

Topic:

My personal experience with geography.

You will use the bold lead sentences below to start each of your own sentences/paragraphs. So, write about each of the following:
Besides the fact that it was a GE requirement, I chose to take a geography course rather than another subject because… (Perhaps you’ve been feeling like you lack knowledge of world country locations, perhaps you want to travel international some day, perhaps you think it will be helpful for other college courses or your future career path, etc.)
Geography education in my country of origin (name the country) was this… (Perhaps you grew up in the United States and the only geography education you received before college was learning the U.S. states and capitals in 5th grade.)
My personal experience with geography before taking this course was this… (Perhaps you traveled to Italy with your parents when you were 15, perhaps you loved looking at maps on the walls at your uncle’s house, perhaps you have a friend from China and you have attended their “Red Egg and Ginger Party”, perhaps you saw a show on The Travel Channel about Chile, etc.
I would like to learn more about this geography-related topic… (This can be something we’ve touched-on in the course already or not. Example: “I’d like to learn a little more about “international shipping” – how do the items I buy at Target arrive here from where they were made, and did they go through the Panama Canal? Another example: “I’m curious how The Travel Channel chooses it’s destinations”)
I would recommend that other students take this course because… (Perhaps you feel proud that you now know where most of the countries of the world are located and you think that everyone should, perhaps you think that everyone should know the difference between geography and geology, etc.)
So far, this was my favorite thing that I have learned in this course…
(Perhaps you enjoyed learning about the man-made island development in Dubai, perhaps you enjoyed learning about the Three Gorges Dam in China, etc.)

Grading:

Body/Writing: 55 points

Map: 5 points

Photo: 5 points

References: 5 points

=70 points possible

Body:

The body of the paper must be between 2-3 full pages of writing (double-spaced) PLUS a map, photo, and references. So, your paper should have approximately 5 pages total.

Spelling and grammar count for part of the grade – be sure to run the spellchecker on your word processing program. (In MS Word, it’s under Tools -> Spelling and Grammar). Your paper should have a logical introductory paragraph and end with a conclusion paragraph.

Have someone you know review your paper for you before you submit it – especially if English is your second language.

Warning: do not copy whole sentences or paragraphs from the web… I check for this and its considered plagiarism if you do it. Instead, read your source material, take notes, and then write the paper in your own words.

Map:

You must include a map related to your topic. The map will most likely be found on one of the websites you used for research and/or you can do a Google Images search for one.

For example, if you mentioned that you want to visit (or have visited) Tikal National Park in Guatemala, find a map that shows the layout of the national park and/or where the site is located.

If your writing does not refer to a specific country (example: your topic is Global Positioning Systems), then choose a country and research the topic as it relates to that location (example: GPS use in Russia).

Photo:

Find (Google Images) or include a personal photo of the topic. Perhaps it’s you on a recent international vacation or perhaps it’s you as a kid looking at a paper map. Be sure to include photo credits (who took it, where you found it, etc.) Cite the source and date retrieved just below the photo.

Example:

Temple 1 in Tikal National Park in Guatemala. Picture courtesy of Raymond Ostertag. Retrieved from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Tikal_Temple1_2006_08_11.JPG on November 20, 2018.

References:

Include a list of references (you need at least two) at the end of your document on a separate references page. Also, cite any direct quotes or source material (including websites) within the text of your paper in proper format. References should follow this format:

Example of a periodical reference:

Kanfer, F. H., & Busemeyer, J. R. (1982). The use of problem-solving and decision-making in behavior therapy. Clinical Psychology Review, 2, 239-266.

Example of an online document reference:

Van Wagner, K. (2006). Guide to APA format. About Psychology. Retrieved on November 16, 2028 from http://psychology.about.com/od/apastyle/guide

(I highlighted the “retrieved-on” date because it essential! What date did you visit the website?)

I need an explanation for this Management question to help me study.

Many companies post their financial statements and auditor’s report on their home pages, generally under a heading labeled “investor relations.” Use one of the Internet search engines to do the following:

a. Visit Intel’s (www.intel.com) and Microsoft’s (www.microsoft.com) home pages and review their financial statements, including their auditors’ reports.

b. Search the web for the home page of a non-U.S. company and review its financial statements, including its auditor’s report. For example, BMW’s home page (www.bmwgroup.com ) under Investor Relations) allows a visitor to download the financial statements and accompanying audit report as a .pdf file. Identify the auditing standards followed by the company’s auditors. Include the website link or .pdf with your submission.

c. Compare the standard U.S. audit report with the audit report for the non-U.S. company (e.g., BMW). Note that in some cases, non-U.S.-based companies’ reports use a U.S. audit report.

d. Visit the SEC’s website (www.sec.gov), and find the link for EdgarScan. Find, download, and save as a .pdf the auditor’s report for a U.S. company of your choice. Identify whether or not the audit report is an unqualified, or “clean,” opinion and explain how you could tell. Include the .pdf with your submission.

Please include the links to the financial statements you use. Points will be deducted for poor grammar and misspelled words.

**Discussion means discussion! More is expected from a discussion question than a few brief sentences. Be sure to fully discuss the topic. Three points will only be awarded for submissions that fully address each topic.Company Description and SWOT Analysis – Assignment 1
I’m studying for my Management class and need an explanation.

Assignment 1: Company Description and SWOT Analysis

Worth 100 points

In this assignment, you will create a revised company description and mission statement based on the feedback you received in the Week 1 discussion. Then, you will conduct a SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunity, and threat) analysis for the type of beverage you have selected and for your company. As you work on the assignment, consider why you have chosen one type of non-alcoholic beverage over another and the reasons for that choice. As you complete your SWOT analysis, be sure to include external factors such as industry/market trends and competition, and internal factors such as your capabilities or abilities to reach certain market segments.

Write a 3–5-page paper in which you do the following:
Create your revised Non-Alcoholic beverage (NAB) company name and explain the name’s significance to you. Describe a NAB that you would produce and sell. Develop your revised company’s mission statement and provide a rationale for its components.
Hints: Use the Statement of Mission template on pages 72–73 of the course textbook, Successful Business Plan, to aid your development. Extract appropriate information from the NAB Company Portfolio, where applicable. You should fill in other required items in the template using your personal preferences.
Describe the trends in the non-alcoholic beverage industry, especially the specific type of beverage category you have chosen.
Hints: Research and outline beverage industry trends. Consider the size and growth rate of the industry overall and the specific beverage type you have chosen. Use the worksheet in the course text (p. 88 | Past and Future Growth of Your Industry) to help you project the future growth rate. Consider the use of industry associations and search engines to find reliable and recent data.
Choose one strategic position from the course text (pp. 142–143) that you believe is the best strategic position for your company. Explain the approach you will use to implement this strategic position in order to distinguish your beverage from other non-alcoholic beverages. Provide an overview of your company’s distribution channels. Explain the manner in which your product will reach end users. Provide a rationale for your chosen method.
Hints: For example, will you sell your beverage in grocery stores, restaurants, or sports venues? If so, describe the types of resellers and distributors who will sell to resellers and fulfill their orders. If you are attempting to sell directly to consumers, for example, online via a monthly subscription, how will you manage warehousing/fulfillment/shipping?
Outline at least three types of risks (including any regulatory risks) that your business faces. Describe your company’s plan to mitigate such risk.
Hints: You may refer to the types of risk listed in the course text (pp. 148–149) as well as any risks not listed in the text. Regulation weighs more heavily on beverage and food businesses than many other types of companies, so be certain to consider any regulatory risks your type of beverage faces. For example, what kind of regulation and/or risks are you likely to face if you make health claims about your beverage?
Develop a SWOT analysis for your NAB company using the SWOT matrix worksheet in the course text (p. 153 | SWOT: Strengths/Weaknesses/Opportunities/Threats).
Hints: What are your company’s likely strengths? Have you chosen a beverage segment that is growing and lacks an entrenched competitor? Are you in a niche market that has great potential? What are the strengths that you and other team members bring to your company? Do you or other team members have previous experience in the food and beverage industry? Hints: What are your company’s likely weaknesses? Is the competition in your industry segment entrenched? Is your own management team inexperienced? Will it be challenging to actually produce your product and maintain quality? Hints: What are your company’s opportunities? Does your segment have more demand than supply? Have larger corporations stopped serving smaller or niche markets that you could enter? Is a new market emerging because of demographics, immigration, and changing tastes? Hints: What are your company’s threats? Is there a clear market leader that will be hard and expensive to displace? Are downward-pricing pressures in the segment making profit margins slim? Are there little or no barriers to entry for new competitors? if you have a novel idea that succeeds, can the competition easily enter your market? If you have a global aspect to your company, do factors such as currency fluctuations, political instability, offshoring, or outsourcing pose threats?
Format your assignment according to these formatting requirements:
Cite the resources you have used to complete the exercise. Note: There is no minimum requirement for the number of resources used in the exercise. The paper must be typed, double-spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with 1-inch margins on all sides; references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions. Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required page length.
The specific course learning outcome associated with this assignment is:
