I’m working on a English exercise and need support.

Compose a brief 300-500-word rhetorical analysis of the ethos and logos in the lyrics of a song of your choice. Choose a song with lyrics that will provide you a good analysis of both ethos and logos; that is, a claim is being made and some reasoning given, and there is some sense of trust being conveyed.

Appeal to Logos: make a claim in your topic sentence about how logos is used, asserting what you think is the major claim of the song; and in the subsequent paragraph/s show evidence and reasoning that support your claim for what you believe to be the song’s claim. Your evidence should include several supporting quotes from lyrics (which may also include imagery from correlating music video), and your reasoning should explain why the evidence proves your claim for the song’s claim. Use for your reasoning any relevant terminology/lingo that you can apply from the First-Year Rhetoric and Writing textbook (chapter 10), and as summed up in the Ethos Logos handout (especially any Rhetorical Devices that might apply, for instance).

Appeal to Ethos: make a claim in your topic sentence about how ethos is used, and in the subsequent paragraph/s show evidence and reasoning that supports your claim. Your evidence should include several supporting quotes from lyrics (which may also include imagery from correlating music video), and your reasoning for at least two types of ethos as discussed and practiced in class, as defined in First-Year Rhetoric and Writing textbook (chapter 9), and as summed up in the Ethos Logos handout: authority, goodwill, common ground, and/or identity.

Structure and Style: compose your essay using MLA style/format and begin the first paragraph of your mini-essay with a topic sentence that clearly asserts your claim (logos might be the best to start with). Then the evidence and reasoning should follow through the rest of the paragraph/s. Do the same for the other rhetorical appeal (ethos, if you led with logos)

Note: do not write an intro, thesis, or conclusion for this essay; this is a mini-essay with essentially two topics/points, which could be in theory part of a larger essay. Work Cited is also not needed in this document

At the end of the same document, but on a separate page, provide lyrics to the song (not included in word-count).

Upload to this site your Mini Essay A composition by the deadline assigned.

This is the first discussion assignment for the second half of the class. You are going back to the 1920s; you are to read Chapter 8 in the text, the lecture on modern culture, especially on the 1920s, and also view the videos on the 1920s.

You are going to transport yourself back to the 1920s and write about what life was like in the 1920s. You can focus on a variety of happenings in the 1920s and enjoy your visit back to that timeframe in our modern history.

Finally let us know which aspect of life in the 1920s you enjoy the most and then comment on ONE other student’s choice of their favorite aspect of the 1920s. Again enjoy your trip to the past.
