***Please follow the research proposal on The concept of volition in modern contract law***
PLEASE remember that your papers must be original work completed for THIS class. This means that you cannot submit a paper from a prior or concurrent class either with APUS or any other University. Please let me know if you have any questions on this issue.
Your paper is due at the end of the 7th week of the course. With the course being just 8 weeks long, week 7 will be here before you know it. I will take points off for late submissions so please turn your paper in by midnight on the last day of week 7, Sunday.
Your paper should be 8 – 10 pages. Here are some general guidelines.
Please comply with Bluebook or APA citation format. Remember that if you are a Legal Studies Master’s Degree Student, you must use Bluebook. If you are not earning your degree in Legal Studies, you may choose between the Bluebook and APA format style for the citations.
Please review the Syllabus for important information required for writing expectations in this class. Also, please remember to review the plagiarism policy.
It is fine for the total paper to be at 10 pages which would include title page, abstract and references. That being said, if the paper is 10 pages in length and then another few pages with those items – that is fine too. What I’m really looking for in the paper is graduate level cohesive writing where you research and analyze primary legal sources such as case law, statutes and the US Constitution.

Guidelines for this Research Paper:
1. An introduction, which clearly identifies the topic of your paper and the issues, which you seek to illuminate. The introduction should include the thesis or basis of your paper, and a very preliminary overview of the evidence you will use to support it. Finally, the introduction should include a statement that identifies what your paper contributes to our understanding of contract law. (In other words, why is the topic of your report important?)
2. The body of your paper should be dedicated to detailed support of your thesis with claims gleaned from your research (into what others have written on the topic; data that you have gathered), readings from the course text, and/or case law, or law review articles. Please cite your references at the end of your paper, using footnotes. This is not an opinion paper, it should reflect academic argument.
3. The conclusion to your paper should recapitulate your thesis and summarize the significance of your findings.
I highly recommend that you proofread your paper several times to ensure that you have no spelling, grammar, or punctuation errors to ensure that your paper flows well and is organized.
