He began his sermon with Deuteronomy 32:35 it states,” Their feet shall slide at due time” (Edwards 80). He expressed how the people walking down the path of sin, will slip and fall down to hell if God decides so. His hostile imagery gives the audience a three-dimensional vision of the consequences of living a life of sin. The terrifying imagery was an amazingly bold way to convince listeners to convert. Edward said, “God is there always holding you, until he decides when it is time for you to burn in the pits of hell”.
