Purpose
This assignment will prepare students with the experience of finding evidence-based information using a variety of research databases available. Students will also be exposed to various peer-reviewed journal sources.
Overview
Use three different research databases: I chose:(1-Diabetes and Nutrition, 2- Hypertension and nutrition, 3- Pregnancy and nutrition), to identify three recent (not older than 5 years), peer-reviewed articles, from three different journals. These should be articles that discuss aspects, perspectives, and/or studies conducted using nutrition program planning, evaluation, and interventions on a community and/or population of interest to you. Read the article and summarize briefly. Evaluate your experience in finding each article.
Instructions
Step 1: Become familiar with using different research databases. Go to the Getting Started page of this course, and view the Course Resources section. Look at “Accessing the Purdue Library Resources” and “Library Database Tutorials.”

Step 2: Think of a topic related to public health and nutrition that is of interest to you:
I chose:
1-Diabetes and Nutrition
2- Hypertension and nutrition
3- Pregnancy and nutrition
Step 3: Use one of the many Purdue databases available to you to find an article on the topic of interest you identified in Step 2.
Step 4: Deliver the following information for each article:
• Article citation in APA format with a brief summary:
o Article citation in APA format
o Research database used
o A brief summary of the article. This could include purpose, hypothesis, and the population of interest. You may want to share observed strengths or weaknesses in the study.
Step 5: Repeat this process for each article, finding a total of three articles on the topic of interest, using a different database, each from a different journal.
Guidelines
This assignment must show that the articles you identified were:
• sourced from three different research databases.
• from three different journals.
• not older than 5 years.
The assignment submission must be double-spaced with 11-12 font using Times New Roman and written in your own words.
