Format: MLA File Format: Microsoft Word Only
Purpose: literary analysis, a list of topics will be provided to students to pick from
Resources: primary source and two secondary resources
Descriiption: Write a literary analysis essay analyzing one of the pieces of literature covered in weeks 1-6. Students need to have an engaging and original introduction with a clear thesis statement. Body paragraphs need to follow the correct paragraph structure and clearly support the thesis statement. Papers should have an appropriate conclusion, and works cited page. Students must use at least one quote from each secondary source as well as references to specific events from the primary source.
Times New Roman 12pt font
Each research paper must have a works cited page. Students are expected to integrate research into their papers to support their thesis and ideas. Papers that do not achieve this will be considered “not research papers” and will receive a grade of F.
Since English 1301 is a prerequisite to this course, this course assumes that students can adequately research using academic sources as well as integrate the research into a paper.
I will be attaching some files below for you to review.
The first attachment is the primary source you must read and use in-text citations from; you will also be required to find two additional supporting sources and integrate them through intext citation as well. The two additional sources must be peer-reviewed academic scholarly articles or journals.
The 2nd and 3rd attachments are examples provided by my instructor to show you what she is looking to see. These are very long examples, but the minimum requirement is only 700 words.
The 4th attachment is my instructor’s own writing tips.
The 5th and final attachment is a pdf provided by my instructor to show the basics of how to write a proper literary analysis.

Once there, the writer must enter anything they need to look for into the Quick Search bar and make sure they click the box “Peer Reviewed” under “Limit Your Results” and then click the red search button; it will prompt them to log in.
