What else would you have liked to see in the choices? What one book should I never ever teach again? Give reasons for each of these answers.1.How did you feel about getting to choose your own books from the offerings? Did you like having a choice or was it too much pressure? Have you ever been able to choose a text in a class before? Did you like the option or would you have preferred a class-wide book and why?1.The theme of this class was “trauma literature has the potential to teach empathy” Which book do you think exemplifies this theme the best? What did it teach you or show you about others’ trauma and what are you taking with you from it?How did book groups/group work help with your understanding of the book and the themes of trauma? What could we have done differently that might have worked better? Would you have preferred to be with the same people all semester? Should we have created groups before each book?Chosen Questions: Pick three to answer from the six below, write at least two paragraphs per questionusing the class and class books as your source:1.Which was your favorite genre section (realistic fiction, Holocaust, dystopia, fairytale)? Why? What about its position within trauma literature appeal to you? Was it because you liked the book you chose or because of the overall genre? Use specifics from the lectures and book in that genre. 2.Narration is an important part of how each story is conveyed to us. How does the narration of each book you read help drive home the different ways a story can be presented to us? Which book had your favorite type of narration? Use a few specific examples of the narration to explain why.3.How does history affect and change how stories are told? Specifically, how do the stories we read reflect the time period they were written in (think about the Realistic Fiction and Holocaust books you read specifically)? Why does the history of the time matter? Use examples from the class and books.4.Why do we, as human beings, need stories? Rather, why are stories such an important part of a full human experience? Reference something from class to explain and use examples from the books you read.5.All story is made up of tropes. How do these tropes help you create expectations for future stories? Is it useful to you personally to understand how we put stories together, why or why not? How was one of your books put together in an appealing way by an author and what is one way a book was put together in an unappealing way? Use specific examples from the books.6.What have you learned about how authors use trauma in literature? Do you recognize the ways in which writers create traumatic situations in order to create emotion within the readers in different ways? What ways are effective and what are authors doing that make you roll your eyes?
