The design should be creative and carefully curated, using the placement of type, image and colour swatches to convey a distinctive response to this subject area.Regardless of whether the intended publication is to be independent or commercial, the subject matter should be clearly defined along with its position within the market place (demographic) and relationship to existing titles and genres.The final booklet must provide:a summary of your concept and demographic, including a masthead;
a moodboard detailing key design research and references;
a style guide for the treatment of type, image and layout;
and finally, a draft layout for your publication, which seeks to resolve these ideas.
Finally, this task addresses the challenge of creating overall design unity. Page size and margins are appropriately set. The margins should be set by you and not left to the InDesign defaults. The size of these areas should take into account the overall look and feel you are trying to achieve (eg. lots of white space calls for more generous margins) and any page information (like folio details) that will reside in these areas.
